JMC Custom KYDEX holsters and mag pouches

I've been looking for a good KYDEX holster and lo and behold ITS tactical did a review of one for the SIG P226R Tactical by JMC Custom.  The holster and mag pouches seem to work great but it also looks incredibly good.  Also, I really dig the desert digi-camo finish.  Anyways, click below to read the full article by ITS Tactical...

AR-15 Bump Fire Stock

Slide Fire Solutions makers of the SSAR-15 introduced this stock a while ago and this thing is getting popular all over the place and I definitely think ALL ammunition manufacturers would definitely approve of it!  Designed to bump fire by sliding the stock without any modification to the fire control parts, this thing can empty a full mag in secongs, sounds like N.F.A. territory, but according to the makers it's legal to own without Federal restrictions.  Here's a video demonstrating it:

Surefire EarPro EP-3 Sonic Defenders

The EP-3 by Surefire is a new earplug that protects hearing while being able to hear normal conversations and sounds.  The EP-3 is designed to reduce any noise above 85DB and is rated to reduce by up to 24dB, it is a must for any shooter that does not like the fit of an earmuff.  I know I use the foam earplugs whenever possible as it is lo-profile and protects pretty good for what it is.  The EP-3 however, is a 21st century design with no electronics or batteries to worry about.  The best part is the price, it retails for $13.95, and that's another reason to try it, you'll get hooked.  It is also available in 3 sizes.  Anyways, here are some videos about the Surefire EP-3...enjoy!

Setting up a Remington 700 bolt action rifle on a "budget"

LoneWolfUSMC from Youtube uploaded a detailed video on how to mount a scope on a Remington 700. The video is very thorough and covers the basic steps to properly install a scope and finishes up by showing us how to zero it. But among other things, one thing I found interesting was that he bedded the scope mount itself, which is something I wasn't aware of (I just love it when I learn a new thing!). Anyway, he's very detailed and he even covers tools and techniques to properly set up his rifle. The best part is that this project uses affordable components.

SHOT Show 2011 trends

Thanks to SOCOM'S Precision Sniper Rifle procurement competition, this year's theme is definitely about long range rifles and the catch words are "CHASSIS" and .338 LAPUA MAGNUM. Yes, all major manufacturers are doing a makeover on bolt-action rifles and I mean ALL! Well at least that's what it feels like here. From Savage Arms, Remington, SigArms, Barrett, and many others, they all are ditching the fiberglass montecarlo/hunting stocks and putting it in an aluminum "chassis" with rails to mount as many accessories as needed. On top of that, these firearms are designed to fire the powerful and long ranged .338 LAPUA MAGNUM which is becoming the standard for extreme long ranges.

Two companies I visited were Barrett Firearms and Accuracy International. These companies are relatively new, but have been successful in the military and sniper communities. This year Barrett has a new .338 Lapua Magnum chambered rifle, the MRAD. The MRAD is designed specifically for SOCOM PSR. According to the company it's the lightest among the competition. Time will tell if it'll be a successful design.

Accuracy International needs no introduction among professionals as it is the standard in the long range community since it has the record for the longest kills. Last year, they've overhauled their design and done away with the thumbhole style stock to a more conventional pistolgrip stock. This year, they've redesigned their .50 caliber line with the AX50 and added new calibers. Their line of precision rifles is extensive and shows why they are on top.

SHOT Show 2011 Highlights

Back from the SHOT Show and I found these firearms to be this year's hot items. The Colt CM901 did not disappoint, it was designed as a multiple caliber carbine that can switch from 7.62mm NATO to 5.56mm NATO calibers by exchanging the uppers. The 7.62mm NATO upper is a direct impingement type while the 5.56mm NATO upper sports the new Colt piston gas system. New features on this carbine are the ambidextrous controls for the mag catch/release and bolt catch/release. As the video shows, it's finished in flat dark earth anodized finish, which adds to the aesthetics of it.

Next is the ARX160 from Beretta. Although announced and present at last year's SHOT Show, for some reason it did not grab any attention, it just sat there quietly, which I believe it was overshadowed by the the FNH SCAR and Bushmaster's ACR. This year the buzz at the show was all about the Beretta ARX160 as not too many manufacturers brought out new designs. Also, in comparison to the SCAR and the ACR, the ARX160 is surprisingly more appealing. Why? because it has features that the SCAR and ACR lack individually! For example, in comparison to the SCAR the ARX160 has ambi mag and bolt catch/release and it has a quick detachable barrel. As for the ACR? Well, the ACR had a lot of problems and negative publicity since it's intro, deservedly or not. Therefore, it turned a lot of people off. So going back to the ARX160, it also helped that it was accompanied by the new GLX160 grenade launcher.  Both systems were designed to complement each other and it shows.

Finally, how can anybody overlook the updated M107A1 .50 cal long range rifle? Specially with the suppressor. This thing is a beast! The new version is lighter and quieter thanks to upgraded materials like titanium and carbon fiber. Other than those changes, it retains all the awesomeness of a .50 cal killing machine!
